The Milwaukee Brewers got a huge 1-0 victory against the Cincinnati Reds during their first game back after the All-Star break. This is the second consecutive game in which the Brew Crew defeated the Reds by a score of 1-0, which is the first time that has happened in the history of their franchise.
On Friday, July 14 they got a huge pitching performance out of Corbin Burnes. He finished the game with six innings pitched, 13 strikeouts, and 21 total whiffs. This is his first double digit strikeout game of the year and crazy enough his start nearly ended in the fifth inning due to medical reasons.
After getting ahead in the count 0-1 in the fifth, Corbin Burnes stepped off the mound and went to a knee. He appears to look a bit dizzy and the medical staff immediately rushed out to him. After several minutes went by he remained in the game, finished the inning, came back out for the sixth, and struck out the side.
This was a signature start for him, not only because of the strikeouts, but because he also got star rookie Elly De La Cruz to strike out three times. Fans ended up going crazy on social media over this as well as his performance.

The Corbin Burnes we’ve all come to know and live showed up tonight, the Brewers need this series and that was a big time performance.

If Corbin Burnes wants to have a Cy Young half to remind everyone how good he can be, I will not object.

Thirteen strikeouts in 102 pitches.
Signature 2023 performance for Corbin Burnes.

There’s no adjustment you can make when Corbin Burnes is pitching this well. The former Cy Young winner is at his peak.
The only good news for the Reds is that they worked some tough at-bats and walks to get him to 100 pitches. He’s likely done for the day with his 13th K.
