The Milwaukee Brewers have had an up and down season heading into the All-Star break. However, they are currently tied for first place Cincinnati Reds. Christian Yelich has played a huge role in keeping the Brewers in a position to make the postseason. Yelich is not the same player he was in 2018 and 2019, but he has been an elite player in 2023. He was not in contention to be an All-Star starter, but he had the numbers to be a reserve. When reserves were announced, Yelich was surprisingly left off the roster.
Christian Yelich Should be an All-Star
Despite not being an MVP level player again, Yelich has been phenomenal for the Milwaukee Brewers this season. Yelich is slashing .273/.370/.438 with 10 home runs and a wRC+ of 121. Fans have their opinions on Yelich and expectations of him, however, it’s hard to deny that these are All-Star numbers.
There were three outfielders selected as reserves for the midsummer classic. Nick Castellanos, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Juan Soto received the honor. While all three are deserving players, Yelich was deserving of a spot.

Who Does Yelich Get in Over?
Soto and Castellanos are both having amazing years and their numbers are not far ahead of Yelich. However, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Christian Yelich have had very similar years. Yelich has a higher average and on base percentage than the Diamondbacks star. Yelich has an OPS of .808 while Gurriel has an OPS of .110. Yelich has stolen more bases and scored more runs.
Unfortunately, Yelich will not be making the trip to Seattle for the All-Star game this year. Unless someone withdraws from the game and Christian Yelich is selected, he will not be participating in 2023. As of right now, Devin Williams will be the only Milwaukee Brewers player to make the trip to Seattle.
