Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Brice Turang is off to a hot start during his sophomore campaign in the big leagues. During the first five games he stole six bases and went 7 for 16 at the plate. Even though we are just one week into the regular season his performance has caught the attention of the podcast Talkin Baseball. On that show he was compared to one established Philadelphia Phillies infielder.
Brice Turang of the Milwaukee Brewers was compared to Philadelphia Phillies infielder Bryson Stott.
A season ago Stott stole 31 bases, had a .747 OPS, and ranked in the 99th percentage in fielding range. Turang on the other hand had a .585 OPS with 26 steals and ranked in the 67th percentile in fielding range. With the way Turang has begun the 2024 season there is an idea that he can become a similar type of ball player to Bryson Stott.
“I don’t know where Brice Turang’s season stats can land, but if his OPS starts with a 7, he’s a plus ball player.”
“He’s a Bryson Stott ish type of ballplayer.”

More similarities between Bryson Stott and Brice Turang.
When you look further at Stott and Turang there are some more similarities. Both were former first round draft picks as Stott was selected 14th overall in 2019 and Turang 21st overall in 2018. Age wise there is just a two year difference but both play second baseman and shortstop on their respective teams. Lastly, both throw right-handed, bat left handed, have exceptional range defensively, and have a lot of speed.
