Former Green Bay Packers kicker Mason Crosby released a statement ahead of the 2023 regular season. The Packers chose to move on from Crosby this offseason and hand the kicking duties to rookie Anders Carlson.
Crosby wasn’t the only Packers special teamer looking for a new team this season. The Packers released veteran punter Pat O’Donnell in favor of Daniel Whelan.
Both Crosby and O’Donnell seem to have enough talent to stay in the league. However, neither has been signed before Week 1 of the regular season Sunday. (O’Donnell had a workout with the Las Vegas Raiders on Friday.)

Crosby released a statement on Twitter Friday evening. Crosby wanted to reflect on his career from high school through his days in the NFL:
“As the first @nfl weekend of the ‘23 season begins I’m still preparing but taking this rare moment of downtime to reflect on some of the past moments. So thankful for my family, great coaches and teammates and the support of all the fans. #football #grateful”

It won’t be easy for Crosby not to be on an NFL sideline Sunday. Hopefully, he enjoys his downtime but can return to the field soon.
