The Chicago Bulls are in a weird spot right now. On paper, they seem to have the necessary weapons to contend for a championship. However, based on what we’ve seen from this team over the past few years, it is clear that this current group just isn’t good enough to be a serious threat in the Eastern Conference.

Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Nikola Vucevic have now been together for two seasons, but all they have to show for is one first-round exit in the playoffs. At this point, you can’t help but question if it’s time to break up the band.

    Bulls Land New Cornerstone Superstar

A Bulls fan account on Twitter that goes by the name Die-Hard Chicago Bulls Fans recently proposed a blockbuster deal that will the Bulls a new cornerstone superstar. It comes in the form of Kawhi Leonard of the Los Angeles Clippers, who like Chicago, have not found success with their current superstar pairing.

Here are the details of the deal:

As long as he’s healthy (which is likely going to be the biggest risk for Chicago here), there’s no doubt that Kawhi Leonard is capable of leading a team to a championship. Even after giving up a whole lot to land the five-time All-Star, the Bulls should still have enough to surround Kawhi with a formidable group that can contend for a title.

This is the type of win-now, risk-it-all deal that the Bull will need to do if they want to win a title. This could also very well blow up in their face, but at the same time, this bold risk also offers a potentially substantial reward.

    Clippers Rebuild Around Paul George

For their part, the Clippers would be pulling the plug on the Kawhi Leonard-Paul George experiment. In this trade, LA chooses the latter as the superstar they will be building around.

Adding Zach LaVine to the mix allows them to form a very formidable star duo, while Patrick Williams could slot in to shore up the frontcourt. More importantly, however, the Clippers are able to get a lot of value back from Kawhi’s expiring contract, while also securing a couple of future assets that will be valuable for them in the coming years.
