According to a statement by the Colts, Indianapolis signed former Packers wider receiver Juwann Winfree and cut two wide receivers from their practice squad. The Colts signed another wide receiver to the practice squad:
“The Indianapolis Colts today signed free agent wide receiver Juwann Winfree. In addition, the team restored center Jack Anderson to the practice squad and signed wide receiver Tyrie Cleveland and running back Zavier Scott to the practice squad. The team released wide receivers Racey McMath and Anthony Miller and guard Dakoda Shepley from the practice squad.
Winfree, 6-1, 210 pounds, has spent time on the team’s active roster and practice squad this season after originally signing with Indianapolis as a free agent on May 9, 2023. He has played in 18 career games in his time with the Colts (2023), Green Bay Packers (2020-22) and Denver Broncos (2019) and has compiled nine receptions for 75 yards (8.3 avg.). Winfree has also appeared in one postseason contest.”
Winfree played in 12 games for the Packers and received 17 targets during that time. He caught nine passes for 75 yards for Green Bay.
Winfree is coming into a challenging situation in Indianapolis. The Colts will likely be without their QB1, Anthony Richardson, for the rest of the season due to a shoulder injury.
The Colts’ current starting quarterback is Gardner Minshew.
