The Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears are the oldest rivals in NFL history. The two historic franchises have gone head to head 206 time. The Packers currently hold a 104-95-6 (1-1 in the playoffs) all-time advantage in those head to head match-ups. Sunday’s contest marks a historic opportunity for both teams. The winner will claim the title of the winningest franchise of all time. Below are the details.
Packers And Bears Square Off For 787th Win
Both the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears enter Sunday’s game with 786 total reguarl season wins in their franchise history. The next victory will earn the top spot as the winningest franchise of all time. No franchise has ever eclipsed 787 wins. In fact, the next closest are the New York Giants with 713.
The Green Bay Packers currently hold a seven game win streak against the Chicago Bears, and have won 11 of their last 12. The Packers’ current win streak is tied for their second longest during this historic rivalry. The longest one came from 1994 to 1998 when they won 10 straight. Aaron Rodgers saying he will start vs Chicago, his reign over the Bears has an opportunity to continue. With Rodgers as the starting quarterback, Green Bay is 24-5 (including playoffs) against the Bears. Additionally, one of those losses came in 2013 after Rodgers left the game with an injury after the very first drive of the game (however it still counts because he started).
One thing to note in this game, Justin Fields is questionable in this game. Last week the Packers gave up an absurd 363 yards rushing. Eagles’ mobile QB Jalen Hurts finished the game with 17 carries for 157 yards. If Fields is able to go, the Packers will need to once again account the threat of a mobile QB. Green Bay is favored in this game by three points. However, as we have seen this season, the Packers haven’t been able to take advantage of many games they are favored in. This week will be a big test if Green Bay wants to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. Even with their sub par records, a lot is on the line for this Packers Bears game.
