The 2024 NFL Draft is only a few weeks away! The Green Bay Packers own 11 picks in this year’s draft, including the 25th overall pick. There are needs to address on this year’s team, but I don’t see any glaring needs right now. Because of this, I think the Green Bay Packers should go best player available at pick 25. Here is why I think that.
No Glaring Need To Move Up For
The biggest needs on this year’s roster is safety, inside linebacker, and offensive line depth. They can get any of those positions at pick 25 and later. The safety class is not strong and inside linebacker will start coming off the board likely the beginning of the second round.
The Green Bay Packers have always been excellent at drafting and developing offensive linemen. Just about all of them were not first round picks. I don’t see that changing this year. The Packers also being back their entire starting offensive line they used a majority of last season.
Ability To Move Up in Rounds 2 and 3
Green Bay has four picks in day two of the NFL Draft. Two in the second round and two in the third round. They have enough draft capital to move up in either, or both rounds to get a player they like. That is where I think they could get their second staring inside linebacker and second starting safety. If they wanted, they could get an offensive lineman and make that position group even stronger.
Positions The Green Bay Packers Don’t Need Will Not Be Their Best Player Available at Pick 25
The Green Bay Packers do not need a quarterback and I don’t think they need interior defensive line help. Once the Packers are on the clock, there will not be a quarterback as the best player available. The only defensive lineman that could be available and the best player available could be Johnny Newton out of Illinois. I would be shocked if Newton is there at pick 25.
