Milwaukee Brewers closer Devin Williams has been a hot topic among executives during the beginning stages of Winter Meetings. MLB Insider Ken Rosenthal revealed that as many as 10 teams have been in contact regarding a possible deal. Of those 10, three mid-market teams have been in the mix.
Unsurprisingly, big-market teams such as the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees have expressed interest in Devin Williams
Ahead of the Winter Meetings, both the Dodgers and Yankees had been connected to Devin Williams. For Los Angeles, Wisconsin native Gavin Lux has had his name tossed around as a potential trade chip, especially as the Brewers are looking to strengthen their infield. Meanwhile, New York saw their former closer Clay Holmes depart to the Mets and are actively seeking reinforcements for their bullpen’s back end.

Three mid-market teams have been in the mix for Devin Williams
Outside of the big-market teams, smaller mid-market teams and even apparent non-contenders have expressed interest in Devin Williams. Ken Rosenthal revealed that the Kansas City Royals, Detroit Tigers, and the Los Angeles Angels could all be in play. The Angels are the most surprising team mentioned, but they also have been one of the more active teams this off-season.
Will the Milwaukee Brewers trade Devin Williams at MLB’s Winter Meetings?
Trades can come together rather quickly, but right Ken Rosenthal believes that the Milwaukee Brewers are gathering information and will take their time evaluating offers. This makes a Devin Williams deal likely to come after Winter Meetings. Waiting a few weeks may potentially improve his value if other free agent relievers such as Tanner Scott, Jeff Hoffman, and Jonathan Loaisiga sign deals and teams that missed out have to increase their trade offer to the Brewers.
