The Green Bay Packers have certainly seen a number of NFC North rival quarterbacks over the last three decades. While the Packers managed to find success with Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre, the Lions, Bears, and Vikings have seen their fair share of quarterback turnover since the 1990s.
Now it would appear that one more rival quarterback is hanging up his cleats for good.
Green Bay Packers’ NFC North Rival Expected To Lose Quarterback To Retirement
According to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team, veteran quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is expected to retire from the NFL following the Lions’ loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
Since being drafted in 2014, Bridgewater has played for six different teams. In December, he said he was satisfied with his career:
“I was young and I was trapped in this lifestyle thinking that I was a football player 24-7, and when I got hurt I realized that I’m only a football player for three hours on a Sunday afternoon,” he said.
“Outside of that, I’m Theodore Bridgewater, so it just put everything into perspective and it really helped me not even have to think about not being a starter (anymore). It’s like, ‘Man, I still got purpose.’ And my purpose is bigger than the game of football. Football is just a platform that I have.”
The Packers Faced Bridgwater Four Times
Teddy Bridgewater faced the Packers four times in his career, he went 1-3 in those games (three with Minnesota and one with Carolina).
In those four games against the Packers, he recorded an 81.6 passer rating with 863 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions.
