The Green Bay Packers will look to make moves this offseason that feel like they will upgrade their football team and one of the names on the free agent market will be wide receiver Tee Higgins. There were points during last season when Higgins’s name was mentioned in rumors to the Packers.
With free agency next month, Tee Higgins is going to have a lot of suitors other than the Packers. It would be a total home run for Green Bay to sign him because he would be the proven number-one wide receiver in this offense.
He has spent his first few NFL seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals. Higgins is only 25 years old and he would fit in perfectly with the Green Bay Packers because they are a very young football team. Tee Higgins missed some of last season with Cincinnati due to injury, but he caught 42 passes for 656 yards receiving and five touchdowns, along with averaging 15.6 yards per reception.
Higgins was targeted 76 times last season. He is a player who is going to want to be a number-one wide receiver next season. Cincinnati has Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins is also going to want to get paid.
The Green Bay Packers Offense Might Be Unstoppable If They Signed Tee Higgins But the Tennessee Titans Might Be the Favorites to Sign Him
There are four quality wide receivers on the Packers roster next season and they are Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, and Dontayvion Wicks. The good news is that Green Bay does not need to pay any of them for the next few years. There is depth at the position and they can all contribute in their own way.
If they were to sign Tee Higgins, it would potentially make this offense unstoppable for quarterback Jordan Love. Higgins can fight for the 50-50 balls and has a lot of room to grow as a wide receiver. Tee Higgins leaving Cincinnati and Ja’Marr Chase could very well be like when Julio Jones was the number one wide receiver with the Atlanta Falcons and Calvin Ridley was the number two wide receiver.
Ridley eventually became the top wide receiver for Atlanta, but he was suspended for a season due to gambling and in that time frame, he was traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars and became the top target for quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Higgins has that kind of potential.
The only thing that is going to stop the Packers from signing him is Higgins going home. He is from Oak Ridge, Tennessee and it is possible that he decides to go home and play for the Tennessee Titans.
The Titans could use another wide receiver for quarterback Will Levis. Another thing to keep in mind is that the former Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan is now the Tennessee Titans head coach and Tee Higgins could follow him there.
Now, if he didn’t go to Tennessee, there are other teams than them and the Packers he can go to. The Green Bay Packers adding Higgins to the roster would be a major win. The top three wide receivers would be Tee Higgins, Christian Watson, and Jayden Reed.
Having Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks as depth pieces would be a total win for this football team. The Green Bay Packers offense would easily be a Top 10 offense in 2024 if they swung for the fences.
