It’s just a locker in the Green Bay Packers locker room, but it has been the location for many interviews, team meetings, and overall greatness for 18 years. It’s Aaron Rodgers’ locker. At least it was. Since Rodgers was traded to the New York Jets, his locker has been reassigned. Jordan Love already has a locker, so Rodgers’ vacated one has been assigned to one of the new rookies: quarterback Sean Clifford out of Penn State.
Green Bay Packers Quarterback Sean Clifford Discusses What It Means for Him to Have Aaron Rodgers’ Old Locker

Rob Demovsky of ESPN was able to catch up with Clifford after practice on Friday to talk about what it is like having Rodgers’ old locker. This is what Clifford had to say:
“Obviously I understand who was in here before and I respect everything about that. At the same time, I came in and I found my name on the plate and I sat down. I’m doing whatever it takes to win games here. I’m very appreciative of the opportunity. Green Bay has a guy who’s going to come in and give them their all, and I can promise that. I’m just trying to create my own legacy now and continue just to get better.
“It’s a locker to me, and I’m just excited to be in the locker room with these guys. As long as you see your name, right? That’s all that matters for me — just being in the NFL and having this opportunity, one that I’ve dreamed about for so long, and to have it as a reality, that’s all that matters.”
This is truly a great attitude to have for Clifford. While he respects the history of the Packers, he is his own person who is trying to make his own way in the NFL. Interestingly, I think the person who had that locker before him would appreciate that sentiment. Also interestingly, Clifford is wearing jersey #8, just as Rodgers is in New York.
Of course, Clifford is not guaranteed a spot on the Packers’ roster. He needs to beat out Danny Etling for the opportunity to be Jordan Love’s backup.
