The Green Bay Packers have one big question left to answer this offseason: how much should they pay Jordan Love? While fans may be frustrated that it is taking so long for the two sides to reach an agreement, and while there will surely be some that do not approve of the amount of money he will make (as if it affects their own lives), the Packers and each of their fans should count themselves fortunate that Love played well enough to earn an extension in the first place.
Last offseason, very few were thinking about what a long-term extension for Love would look like. Instead, they were wondering if he would be any good. For the first half of the season, it appeared as if Love and the Packers were headed in the wrong direction. They were 2-5 and Love was completing less than 60% of his passes and had thrown eight interceptions against just 11 touchdowns.
The second half of the season, however, saw the new Packers starting quarterback transform.
Jordan Love Led the Green Bay Packers to a Spot in the NFL Playoffs

In the final 10 games of the season, however, Love completed 68.7% of his passes for 2,667 yards, 21 touchdowns, just three interceptions, and had a passer rating of 108.2.
If these had been his numbers over the course of a 17-game season, he would have had 4,534 passing yards, 36 touchdowns, and just five interceptions.
As it was, Love finished the 2023 season with a 64.2% completion percentage, 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, and a passer rating of 96.1. It was the best first season starting by a Packers quarterback in franchise history:
Quarterback | Completion % | Yards | Touchdowns | Interceptions | Passer Rating |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Jordan Love | 64.2% | 4,159 | 32 | 11 | 96.1 |
Aaron Rodgers | 63.6% | 4,038 | 28 | 13 | 93.8 |
Brett Favre | 64.1% | 3,227 | 18 | 13 | 85.3 |
Love’s performance, especially in the second half of the season, proved that he was worth every risk Green Bay took on him. He is going to be paid handsomely as a result, and the Packers have yet another franchise quarterback.
One NFL analyst believes that 2024 will see Love do something each of Green Bay’s three previous long-term starting quarterbacks did at one point or another during each of their tenures.
Will Jordan Love Become the 4th Consecutive Green Bay Packers Quarterback to Make the Pro Bowl?

The fun/common discussion surrounding Love and the Packers’ long history is whether or not he will be the team’s third consecutive Hall of Fame quarterback. While it is far too early for that discussion, it is not too early to talk about him becoming a Pro Bowler.
Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports listed Love as one of the NFL Players he thinks will make their first Pro Bowl in 2024:
“Few gunslingers were as dazzling down the stretch in 2023, and now Love has another full offseason of prep under his belt, armed with a young and versatile wide receiver corps. His big arm could be a big-play machine.”
If/when Love makes the Pro Bowl, he will be Green Bay’s fourth consecutive Pro Bowler at the position. Of course, everyone remembers Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre. However, few nowadays acknowledge the fact that Don Majkowski, whom Favre replaced because of an injury, was a Pro Bowl selection in 1989.
As far as research can tell, no team has ever had four Pro Bowl quarterbacks in a row. Of course it would happen in Green Bay.
