Allen redshirted his freshman season for the Cornhuskers. He caught two passes for 54 yards. In his sophomore season he had seven catches for 84 yards in all 12 games. During his junior season he caught 18 passes for 236 yards with one touchdown. In his final season, Austin Allen set records with the Cornhuskers as a tight end with 38 catches for 602 yards, and three touchdowns. He was named first-team All Big Ten Conference, and won the Kwalick-Tight End of The Year Award in his senior season.
Austin Allen’s NFL Career
The former tight end was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2022 by the New York Giants. He was added to the practice squad shortly after being released from the team in August of last year. In January of this season, the Packers signed him to the practice squad. One week later he signed a reserve/future contract.
According to sources the Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst may be looking to sign a tight end to the 53-man roster for this upcoming season.
Many questions are surfacing as the Packers are starting the 2023 season with their new quarterback. The 4th year quarterback does have wide receivers to throw to in Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson, and incoming rookie Jaylen Reed from Michigan State University.`
