Just recently, Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs stirred controversy about the team’s upcoming game in Brazil. This prompted the NFL to swiftly correct the football star by releasing a statement about the matter.
A few days ago, Jacobs suggested that the Packers and Philadelphia Eagles would not be permitted to wear their signature green jerseys for their Week One game in Brazil. The Packers star said that they won’t be able to wear that color to the particular part of Brazil they’re going to. He added it had something to do with gangs.
The highly anticipated game is scheduled for Friday, September 6, just a day after the defending Super Bowl champions Kansas City Chiefs start the regular season against the Baltimore Ravens.
Jacobs later issued an apology for his remarks and expressed his excitement to visit Brazil in the coming months. The Eagles-Packers game is set to take place at Corinthians Arena, with kick-off scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET.
NFL Releases Statement on Green Bay Packers Josh Jacobs Controversial Remarks
Rather than see the whole issue get worse, the NFL quickly stepped in and issued a statement, as seen in an article written by Hunter Hodies for The Spun. For his part, Jacobs did the same by dropping an apology on the matter.
““You will see a stadium full of fans wearing the green of the Eagles and the green of the Packers,”NFL spokesperson Michael Signora told the Philadelphia Inquirer,” Hodies wrote.

A couple of months ago, the Packers signed Jacobs to four-year $48 million contract. He is set to join Jordan Love and company in their bid to reach the Super Bowl after a surprising run last season.
It remains to be seen whether the issue started by Jacob will get worse or just die a natural death in the coming days. In any case, fans in Brazil will be excited to see both NFL teams slug it out on the field soon.
