The Green Bay Packers have set the standard for finding and developing NFL quarterbacks. Jordan Love established himself as the franchise’s next long-term starting quarterback by completing 64.1% of his passes for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, and a 96.1 passer rating. His season may have started out rocky, but it ended up being the best first year starting by any quarterback in Packers history.
Of course, it is far too early to label Love as the next “Hall of Fame” quarterback in Green Bay, but that is certainly the standard that he is chasing. His predecessor, Aaron Rodgers, is a future Hall of Famer after winning four NFL MVP’s and a Super Bowl in Green Bay. Rodgers’ predecessor, Brett Favre, is already in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and still owns several NFL records.
For years, fans and analysts have debated which of Love’s two predecessors, Rodgers or Favre, is greater. Recently, one former NFL quarterback weighed in with his thoughts.

Las Vegas Raiders pass rusher Maxx Crosby recently had former NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel as a guest on his popular podcast. He asked the former Heisman Trophy winner which quarterback he thought was greater: Brett Favre or Aaron Rodgers.

“Brett Favre had one of the biggest, like cannons, of all… they’re two of the most natural throwers of the football, like of all time. It’s not even close,” Manziel began. “Rodgers is a better natural like flicker of the football, like to be able to get it where it needs to go.
“Favre could do it, for sure, and was the guy. Favre, to me, will always be a bigger legend. I love Aaron. For me, this is like I can’t choose.”
Manziel talks about how Favre was a player that he idolized growing up, but Rodgers was a player that he studied during his brief stint in the NFL.
There Will Always Be a Debate Over Which Green Bay Packers Quarterback Was Greater

Both Rodgers and Favre are certainly legendary quarterbacks in their own right. Both won just one Super Bowl in Green Bay, though Favre did appear in a second one after winning Super Bowl XXXI.
Of course, Rodgers has far fewer interceptions in his career than Favre, who holds the NFL record for most interceptions thrown (336). Rodgers also has one more NFL MVP Award and is 33 touchdown passes away from tying his predecessor on the all-time list.
In the end, though, there will never be a clear answer to which player was greater. However, it does bear mentioning that another Packers quarterback, Bart Starr, brought five championships home to Green Bay.
Just saying.
