Green Bay Packers news: Aaron Rodgers and Matt LaFleur have quite a history together. Under LaFleur’s watch, Rodgers won back-to-back MVP titles in 2020 and 2021. While it was Mike McCarthy who coached Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers to a Super Bowl win back in 2010, there’s also no denying that the Rodgers-LaFleur duo also flourished, albeit to a lesser extent.
As it turns out, however, Rodgers has even more history with former Packers offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, who he has now reunited with with the New York Jets.
Green Bay Packers News: Aaron Rodgers Has High Praise for Nathaniel Hackett

Nathaniel Hackett recently made headlines for all the wrong reasons after new Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton went on a lengthy rant about how Hackett left the Broncos in shambles. It was a surprising tirade, to say the least, which has garnered all sorts of reactions from around the league.
Even Aaron Rodgers could not help but comment on Payton’s slanderous attack on Hackett. The new Jets quarterback came to the New York offensive coordinator’s defense as he heaped some high praise on Hackett:
“My love for Hack goes deep,” Rodgers said, via Robin M Adams of Wisconsin Sports Heroics. “We had some good years together in Green Bay. Kept in touch. Love him and his family. He’s an incredible family man, an incredible dad. And on the field, he’s arguably my favorite coach I’ve ever had in the NFL.”
By saying that Hackett is the “favorite coach” he’s ever had, did Aaron Rodgers just throw some slight shade in the direction of Matt LaFleur? After all, Rodgers did play under LaFleur over the last four years, and surely, they had some memorable times together. However, what is clear is that A-Rod’s bond with Hackett far exceeds his relationship with LaFleur.
As far as I know, there’s no lingering beef between LaFleur and Rodgers when the latter left Green Bay. It’s just that Matt LaFleur isn’t Rodgers’ favorite.
Green Bay Packers News: Aaron Rodgers Calls Out Sean Payton’s Nathaniel Hackett Slander

What is clear at this point is that Aaron Rodgers has Nathaniel Hackett’s back. The 10-time Pro Bowl quarterback had to clap back at Payton for what Rodgers deems as an uncalled-for hatchet job. The Jets superstar even hinted that Payton is already making excuses for what could potentially be a disastrous campaign this coming season:
“Those comments were very surprising. For a coach to do that to another coach,” said Rodgers.
“… It made me feel bad that someone who has accomplished so much in the league is that insecure that they have to take another man down to set themselves up. I think it was way out of line and inappropriate. And I think he needs to keep my coach’s name out of his mouth.”
The next time Payton, or anyone else for that matter, thinks about talking about Nathaniel Hackett in a bad light, they better be ready for Aaron Rodgers to come at them.
