The Green Bay Packers’ locker room was filled with joy and excitement after Matt LaFleur’s men took down the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card round on Sunday, and understandably so.
Green Bay has a lot to celebrate about the win. It is Jordan Love’s first official postseason victory as a fulltime starter. They also managed to break the Cowboys’ streak of 16 straight home wins at AT&T Stadium. Of course the fact that they are moving on to the divisional round is a major milestone as well, especially when one considers how hard it is to win in the NFL.
More than that, though, the Packers also made history with the victory. By beating the second-seeded Cowboys, they became the first seventh-seed ever to win a postseason game. EVER.
As LaFleur informed his Packers about the achievement in the locker room on Sunday, all players were naturally ecstatic about it. The team cheered, jumped and shouted as they pulled off what many thought was impossible.

The Green Bay Packers were heavy underdogs in the game. Considering how great the Dallas Cowboys have been throughout the season, Jordan Love and Co. weren’t really expected to live another week after the Wild Card round.
Nonetheless, Matt LaFleur’s men surprised everyone with their dominant play from start to finish. They didn’t let the moment get the best of them, played like a team with nothing to lose and showed everyone what they are capable of.
When they got rolling, there was little that Dak Prescott and the Cowboys could do.
Sure enough, while they became the first seventh seed to win in the playoffs, they didn’t play like one on Sunday. And that in itself deserves plenty of recognition.
Matt LaFleur, Green Bay Packers Dominate Dallas Cowboys
After winning the coin toss and opting to take the ball, the Green Bay Packers set the tone early with a composed start. Eating almost eight minutes on the clock, Jordan Love led a 12-play, 75-yard drive that was capped off by an Aaron Jones rushing TD.
It was all Packers from that moment on, with Dak Prescott and the Cowboys unable to do anything offensively. A Darnell Savage pick-6 late in the second quarter gave Green Bay a 27-0 lead, and while Dallas was able to score before time expired, the writing was on the wall at that point.
Green Bay knew they only needed to protect their lead, and they did so convincingly with great defense. While the 48-32 scoreline may suggest that Dallas tried to fight back, most of their scores came during garbage time when the game was all but decided.
It was an incredible victory for the Packers, making all the praises even more deserving and warranted.
