The Green Bay Packers released Justin Hollins again last week in order to make room for Eric Stokes on the roster. This was a week after they released him to make room for Patrick Taylor. This time, he will not be re-signing. Hollins has been signed the the New York Giants practice squad.

Green Bay Packers Justin Hollins Signs With New York Giants
Hollins played well for the Packers between last season and this season. He recorded 2.5 sacks and three TFLs for the team during the 2022 and 2023 seasons. However, the amount of young players the Packers have at the outside linebacker position ultimately made him dispensable. His production, while solid, was not moving the needle for this defense. The Giants have been dealing with many injuries and can use all the help they can get. They now get a savvy veteran who can try and help an improving defense over the past couple of weeks.

Not A Huge Loss
It stinks to lose the veteran presence but the Packers have plenty of that on the defensive side of the ball. This also opens up more playing opportunities for Lukas Van Ness and Kingsley Enagbare who should be getting more reps this season. Couple that with Rashan Gary getting back to full strength and the number of snaps that Hollins would see simply were not there. His going to the Giants also isn’t a body blow to the Packers down the road as this season has turned into a rebuilding year.

The Green Bay Packers will have to play their young players more now. This is great as they will get more development this year. If they can get reps under their belt, it could pay dividends down the road for this team.
