The Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks ended the 2023 regular season with the same record (9-8). However, the Packers edged out Seattle for the final playoff spot and took full advantage. As the 2024 off-season begun, both teams made some significant changes to their coaching staff.
Seattle got a new head coach while the Packers revamped nearly their defensive staff.
The Seattle Seahawks Could Steal Former Piece To The Green Bay Packers Offense
Wendell Ferreira of A to Z Sports highlighted why this move would make a ton of sense for Seattle:
Before the 2020 draft, I saw Deguara as a perfect fit for the 49ers. He ended up with the Packers, which made sense considering the schematic similarities. Now as a free agent, he could finally go to the Niners as a backup plan to Kyle Juszczyk’s role.
A third-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft was made by Green Bay, since Jimmy Graham went to Chicago and Marcedes Lewis was getting up there in age.
The rookie couldn’t convert his solid last two seasons at Cincinnati into a successful rookie campaign because of a knee injury. It was a bounce back year for the 6-foot-2 tight end in 2021. He caught 25 passes (33 targets) for two touchdowns in 16 games.
It appeared that things were going well for Deguara, but he hasn’t been able to put it all together and has been surpassed on the depth chart for the last two years. As newcomers Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft increased their role in the team’s passing game, the former University of Cincinnati Bearcat pass catcher played in 15 games (four starts).
Despite only playing 17.8% of offensive snaps, Deguara had eight receptions (eight targets) for 65 yards. Musgrave played 42.7% of the offensive snaps and caught 34 receptions (46 targets) for 352 yards and a touchdown. In 56.6% of offensive snaps, Kraft caught 31 passes (40 targets) for 355 yards and two touchdowns.
The writing seems to be on the wall for Deguara and the Packers, that could be where Seattle comes in.
