The 2024 offseason has been a productive one for the Green Bay Packers. In the opening days of free agency, they acquired two superstars in running back Josh Jacobs and safety Xavier Mckinney. After getting them officially inked into paper on Thursday, March 15th, the new Green Bay Packers went into the Packer locker room to speak to Green Bay Packers writers and reporters about their new home.
Xavier Mckinney’s High Praise
Xavier Mckinney is coming off a career year, solidifying himself as one of the top pass defenders in the safety position under defensive coordinator Wink Martindale. In his relaxed press conference on the morning of March 15th, Mckinney was asked about his new DC Jeff Hafley, and Mckinney’s face lit up.

Xavier Mckinney talked about a productive dinner he had with Jeff Hafley, presumably talking about Hafley’s vision for the defense and how Mckinney fits into it. Mckinney seemed to have enjoyed what he heard during the meal.
Mckinney was asked about how Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love played into his decision to sign with the Green Bay Packers, as he has played against the young rising star now playing with him. Xavier ‘X’ Mckinney had great words to say about Love.
Xavier McKinney says Jordan Love played a “big factor” in him joining the Packers.

We can thank the first-round draft pick in 2020 at least partially for the signing of Xavier Mckinney. In 2023 the New York Giants upset the Green Bay Packers 24-22, in that game it seems Jordan Love put plenty on display to catch the young safety’s eye.
Xavier Mckinney was also asked about his ability to tackle, and what that brings to the Packers. McKinney was unimpressed with himself.
Xavier McKinney on his low number of missed tackles last season: “That six or seven is too much for a safety. We gon’ get that number down for sure.”

A craving for improvement is exactly what you want to hear coming from a young talent, it appears the Green Bay Packers found a player who wants to get better.
Josh Jacobs’ Thoughts On Green Bay Packers
With the signing of young running back Josh Jacobs, Green Bay Packers fans around the world thought they would see a dream pairing of Aaron Jones and Josh Jacobs. Unfortunately, that dream did not last long, as Aaron Jones had contract negotiations fall through with the Packers. When Josh Jacobs was asked about his replacement of Jones, he gave the perfect response.
Josh Jacobs knows Aaron Jones from offseason training in Miami.

He is completely right, there is no replacing a player who was so important for the gameplan and culture of a team like Aaron Jones to the Green Bay Packers. Josh Jacobs gave his respect but also understood that he has a standard and quality he must take steps to live up to.
When asked about his new Head Coach and offensive mastermind Matt Lafleur, Jacobs had an interesting response.

The camaraderie and culture already seem to be building thanks to Matt Lafleur and the new additions alike. This shows great signs for the future of the Green Bay Packers and their efforts to win a Super Bowl.
