Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers are getting ready to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. The Packers are coming off a brutal loss to the New York Giants on Monday Night. A game in which many believed the Packers should have won.
Green Bay was without a number of their top performers against the Giants, including Christian Watson, Aaron Jones, Luke Musgrave, and Jaire Alexander. On Wednesday, quarterback Jordan Love spoke on Christian Watson’s absence.
Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love Releases Statement Regarding Christian Watson
Watson missed his fourth game this season with a hamstring injury, three to begin the season and now, one after re-injuring it. Watson’s injury occurred during the Packers’ Week 13 win over Kansas City, just as he was establishing himself as the team’s top option.
“I think any time you don’t have your best guys out there, it is tough,” Love said when asked about the Christian Watson injury. “But we have had so many reps with other guys in our offense that, I’m comfortable, those guys are comfortable. But like you said, it is really that next man up mentality. But obviously, it’s tough. You always want to have your best guys out there.
“But things happen. It’s football. Injuries happen. You just have to move on, not make excuses about anything. Obviously, get as comfortable as you can throughout the week, repetitions, things like that. Make sure we’re going out there to perform our best.”
The Packers May Not Get Watson Back In Week 15 Against The Tampa Bay Buccaneers
While Watson didn’t practice on Thursday, many fans hope he won’t miss more than one game due to his re-injured hamstring. The Packers are sitting at 6-7 and clinging to the last playoff spot in the NFC.
In the previous two weeks prior to his injury, Watson helped the team defeat the Detroit Lions and the Kansas City Chiefs. He caught 12 passes for 165 yards and three touchdowns during those two games. Getting him back healthy will be huge for this team as they make a playoff push.
