Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur is confident in his starting quarterback. Despite an up and down season for the first year starter, the head coach has expressed his thoughts on the ability of the signal caller to overcome adversity.
Green Bay Packers ‘Moving Pieces’
What has excited Coach LeFleur the most about Jordan Love is the way that he has remained even keeled during this Green Bay Packers season.
During a season that has seen its’ fair share of injuries at the wide receiver position, head coach LaFleur gave this insight:
Love does a great job of reading plays true to the progression and what the defense presents.
It was unknown how Love would look as a first year start in the NFL. The season for Love has not been helped out by players consistently unavailable for game day, not allowing for chemistry to be developed.
Green Bay Packers beat writer posted similar sentiments on social media:
Matt LaFleur says Jordan Love has done “a hell of a job” dealing with so many moving pieces in #Packers offense this season, really since week 1: “It makes everything he’s been able to do that much more impressive. Because that’s not easy to do.
Green Bay Packers Wide Receivers Against the Vikings
Even with the Green Bay Packers next matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, the wide receiver position is looking to be riddled with injury concerns.
Christian Watson is not looking like he will be able to see the field as coach LaFleur has officially stated that he is ‘doubtful’ for the Sunday Night Football matchup. Dontayvion Wicks is questionable to play against the Vikings, as another unknown for the upcoming game.
Even if these two players are able to play, it shows a larger concern that has plagued the Green Bay Packers throughout the season.
Time spent injured, or not being able to practice, does not allow Love to develop timing or chemistry with his receivers. Having game time being the only opportunity that he is able to develop a connection with his targets is a difficult way for any quarterbacks to have success on the field, let alone someone starting for the first time in their career.
Green Bay Packers Needs To Find A Way To Win
No matter who ends up playing, the Green Bay Packers need to get the victory against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. What once looked like a promising, sure path to the playoffs, will end in a potential nail biter to sneak in.
Currently sitting in third of the NFC North, this 7-8 team realistically can’t find a way into the playoffs without winning their next two games. (Yes there is a slim possibility to get in, but that requires even more help) With the Los Angeles Rams, and Seattle Seahawks currently sitting at 8-7, depending on how they close out their season could determine the fate of the playoff aspirations of this team.
Either way, Love has showed growth during the season. Hopefully with more congruency next year, and some playoff experience, he will show that he is the future of this team.
