The Green Bay Packers (shockingly) ended up being sellers at this year’s trade deadline. Green Bay Packers cornerback Rasul Douglas was traded in an absolutely shocking move. The Packers’ cornerback room just became even thinner without 2021 first round pick Eric Stokes and Jaire Alexander’s injured back. On Twitter (X), Ian Rapoport reported that Green Bay sent Douglas to Buffalo.
That trade may have just move the Packers one step closer to their running back and wide receiver of the future.

In a recent Mock Draft by Co-Owner Robin Adams, the Packers took two players who could help build the future for this team:

Getting Johnny Wilson and Braelon Allen in the same draft would be huge for the future of this team. Wilson is widely mocked as a late first round early second round draft pick. His draft profile looks like this:
He is a literal power forward playing wide receiver. The ability to put defenders on a poster down the field screams off the film at you; he’s got very good body control for a player of his stature at the catch point and adjusts well to the football.
You really just have to put it in his ZIP code for a chance at a completion, too. He’s got strong hands and is incredibly difficult to bump out of prime space down the field on targets.
The Florida State offense has given him an opportunity to shine down the field as a chunk play receiver, you do see him pressing vertically and corners will respect his ability to run through soft press; giving him the space needed to break off into his routes.
Good luck trying to press this dude at the line of scrimmage; his stature is not something that invites playing in his face. As a result, he gets out into his routes on time with consistency as a result.
Braelon Allen on the other hand would be a big get for the Packers’ offense. His draft stock also ranges from the first to the second round. His draft profile Is equally impressive:
Imagine Lamborghini made an 18-wheeler. That’s a good place to start for imagining Allen’s stature and prowess as a runner. He’s not a complete player, but he offers excellent performance and control as a rusher in spite of his towering frame and physical stature.
Allen is excellent in short yardage situations and a terror in the hole, physically challenging second level defenders with confidence as he brings momentum into the alley.
Allen has light feet, effective cuts and runs controlled on his base; he can pick through traffic, high step out of a low tackle challenge or cut and accelerate to the perimeter.
Usually big-bodied backs like this are linear runners only; but Allen’s best quality is that he transcends the stereotypes about his size to be a multi-faceted runner. Sprinkle in good vision and an understanding of how to fall in line behind in pullers and lead blockers? You’ve got the makings of a primary NFL runner.
These two picks could be huge for the future of the Packers’ offense with Jordan Love at the helm.
