The Green Bay Packers have their franchise quarterback for the long haul with Jordan Love and the Minnesota Vikings hope they have there’s for the long haul with J.J. McCarthy. Minnesota this past offseason did not re-sign quarterback Kirk Cousins.
Cousins left the Vikings and he signed a new four-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons. The good news for the Green Bay Packers defense is that they will not have to face Kirk Cousins twice a year anymore.
In the 2024 NFL Draft, the Vikings moved from the 11th pick to the 10th pick to select quarterback J.J. McCarthy from Michigan. Can he start Week 1 for the Minnesota Vikings or will Sam Darnold be the lead guy for them instead?

Greg Cosell went on the Ross Tucker Podcast to talk about Minnesota Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy. Cosell said about McCarthy:
“I would be very very surprised if Darnold isn’t the starter…I think they know McCarthy isn’t ready and everyone I talk to doesn’t think McCarthy is ready.”
This is very interesting because McCarthy is only 21 years old and Sam Darnold is 27 years old. Darnold has been in the NFL for several years and maybe they do not want the rookie quarterback to be thrown into the wolves right away.

One of the quarterback controversies that Green Bay will have during training camp this season is who will be Jordan Love’s backup: rookie Michael Pratt or Sean Clifford.
The Minnesota Vikings quarterback battle between J.J. McCarthy and Sam Darnold will be one of the biggest storylines in NFL training camp. Minnesota could easily be the worst team in the NFC North this season because they have the worst quarterbacks in the division on paper.
