The Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions are preparing for a fairly significant Thanksgiving matchup in Week 12. The Packers (4-5) actually have a chance to make a run at a Wild Card appearance if they continue to string together a few wins. Currently, they sit one spot out of the final Wild Card seed.
The Lions (8-2) are looking to keep pace with the Philadelphia Eagles (9-1) for the number one seed in the NFC. They are also looking to win their first NFC North divisional title ever. The Packers, however, got some great news for their offense less than 24 hours prior to the two teams clash.
The Green Bay Packers Will Have Jayden Reed As A “Full Go” Against The Detroit Lions On Thanksgiving
According to Zach Kruse of The Packers Wire:
Green Bay Packers rookie receiver Jayden Reed did not receive a playing status designation and was removed from the Week 12 final injury report ahead of Thursday’s showdown with the Detroit Lions.
In other words, Reed will play on Thanksgiving Day at Ford Field.
Reed, the team’s leading receiver, was added to the injury report on Tuesday with a chest injury he suffered during the Packers’ 23-20 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.
With 92 total yards during the win over the Los Angeles Chargers, Reed has 80 or more yards in three of the team’s last four contests. In addition to leading the Packers in receiving yards (463) and catches of 30+ yards (7), he is also second on the team in targets (51) and receiving touchdowns (5). He ranks third on the team in receptions (31).
In the last few weeks, the Packers have used Reed more often – he has the second-most routes behind Christian Watson – and have given him some carries as well. Despite not being nearly as proven as Deebo Samuel (obviously), Reed could become the Packers’ own version Deebo due to Aaron Jones’ injury.
His versatility has been on full display and the coaching staff loves what Reed brings to the team. Having him for their huge clash in Detroit is nothing short of massive.
