The Green Bay Packers may be in the quarterback market in the 2024 NFL Draft and one of the names that could be an interesting draft candidate is LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels. Green Bay currently has a 3-6 record on the year and would own the sixth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft if the regular season ended today.
It is very possible that Caleb Williams of USC and Drake Maye of North Carolina will be selected by then. If that’s the case, who is the third-best quarterback on the board? That is going to be up for major debate, but Jayden Daniels could be climbing up draft boards.
Daniels last week against the Florida Gators completed 65.4% of his passes for 372 yards and three touchdowns. He has also rushed for 234 yards on 12 carries and two touchdowns. Jayden Daniels averaged 19.5 yards per carry in that football game.
He is 22 years old and is 6’4″ and weighs 210 lbs. Daniels so far this season at LSU has thrown for 3,164 yards, 30 touchdowns, and only four interceptions. He also has rushed for 918 yards on 114 carries and eight touchdowns, along with averaging 8.1 yards per carry this year.
J.J. McCarthy of Michigan, Bo Nix of Oregon, and Michael Penix of Washington are some of the other quarterbacks that could be selected in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Quinn Ewers of Texas is already returning to school next season and expect Shadeur Sanders of Colorado to do the same.
Green Bay has been shaky on offense this season with quarterback Jordan Love. He was a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and general manager Brian Gutekunst traded up for him. Love played college football at Utah State and this is the first season without Aaron Rodgers at the helm.
The Green Bay Packers Taking Jayden Daniels With the Sixth Overall Selection Would Be Eye Catching But Need Offensive Line Help
Green Bay taking Daniels with the sixth overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft would catch a lot of eyes for a lot of reasons. This means that they would be done with Jordan Love as the starting quarterback, but things can change from now until the end of the season.
The Packers have a massive need for offensive line help. Olu Fashanu from Penn State and Joe Alt from Notre Dame could very well be on the board with the sixth selection. That would solidify their left tackle position for the next decade with David Bahktiari uncertain for 2024 and beyond. Even if the Green Bay Packers don’t target Jayden Daniels during the predraft process, there will be other teams that certainly will.
