At 2-4, the Green Bay Packers have what many see as a make-or-break game against the Minnesota Vikings (3-4) at home on Sunday. Indeed, it appears that what many thought to be true is coming to fruition: the young Packers roster is going through some serious growing pains.
While the organization refused to call this a rebuilding year, it is clearly evident that it most certainly is a rebuilding year. How else can one describe a team with an offense that is absent of any established veterans (that are healthy and playing) outside of Aaron Jones? And even he has missed half the season thus far.
The Packers were willing to embrace the challenges that come with having a young roster, but many fans are not, and many fans from other fan bases do not understand what it is that Green Bay is doing. While the organization sees itself as building for the future, others see it as failing.
With the NFL trade deadline approaching on October 31, there are some that think the Packers will be selling some of their best players, and one in particular is desired by multiple fan bases.
Fans of Multiple NFL Teams Want Green Bay Packers Cornerback Jaire Alexander in a Trade
One of the players that multiple fans from various NFL fanbases want is Jaire Alexander, who has missed several games this season due to a back injury. He also is having a down year when he is on the field. Opposing quarterbacks have a 146.8 quarterback rating when targeting him to go along with a 77.8% completion percentage.
Still, Alexander has only played three games this season and has plenty of time to improve on those numbers. He also is just 26 years old and under contract until 2026. He has a reputation as one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, despite the struggles early this season, and many fans seem to think he could be acquired by their team at the trade deadline:

I would be happy as hell if the @steelers traded Levi Wallace for Pat Surtain or Jaire Alexander!!

Surtain, Jaire Alexander, Jaycee Horn (if he can almost pass a physical), or Kendall Fuller if it’s like multiple day 3 picks https://t.co/AFzeShTEGX

As one can see, there are quite a few fans that have Alexander on their radar, including fans of the Detroit Lions. However, believing Alexander is on the trade block and the reality of the situation are two completely different things.
The Green Bay Packers Are Not Trading Jaire Alexander
The fact that the Packer recently signed Alexander to what was then the richest contract in NFL history of a cornerback indicates that he is most certainly a part of their future plans. On a team that is seriously lacking veteran leadership, it makes no sense for them to trade away one of their most vocal players.
If that were not enough reason to keep Alexander, the cornerback position has not been the strength that the Packers thought it would be going into the season. Rasul Douglas has been phenomenal and could/should be a Pro Bowl nominee, but the rest of the position group has underperformed. Alexander’s numbers this season were already mentioned, but Keisean Nixon and Carrington Valentine have also struggled this season.
While Alexander is almost assuredly going to figure it out and return to the dominant player that he is, there is no reason to think that Nixon or Valentine will improve much this season. Nixon is a veteran who is what he is at this point, and Valentine is a rookie who is going through growing pains with the rest of the young players on the team.
Given the fact that Nixon is just on a one-year deal and there is a real possibility the Packers cut Douglas as a cap casualty next season, Alexander almost needs to remain in Green Bay or else they face the possibility of going into 2024 with a whole new cornerback room led by Valentine.
So, no, Alexander is not on the trade block, no matter how many teams may be interested.
