The Green Bay Packers had a couple of surprising status reports at their first rookie minicamp practice Friday. The Packers drafted several pass catchers to help augment a part of the offense that was the cheapest paid at their position in the NFL. Those five players need as much practice as they can get with rookie quarterback Sean Clifford during camp this weekend to improve before OTAs later this month. But one wide receiver and head coach Matt LaFleur didn’t appear to be total participants Friday.
A Green Bay Packers WR not participating Friday
According to Rob Demovsky with ESPN, wide receiver Grant DuBose did not take part in Friday’s practice. LaFleur spent much of the day with the players but gave over the reigns to assistant head coach Rich Bisaccia. LaFleur plans to attend Wisconsin Men’s Basketball Coach Greg Gard’s “Garding Against Cancer” event on Friday night.

It was unclear as to why DuBose was unable to participate Friday. The seventh-round pick needs to get as many reps in as he can to fight for a roster spot this season. The Packers pass catchers, as a whole, lack experience, and any practice they can attend is crucial to the team’s success this season.
