The Green Bay Packers will have a lot of decisions to make this upcoming off-season.  One of those will certainly be shoring up this Packers’ offense and continuing to set up Jordan Love for success.  The young core that surrounds Love currently has gotten off to an incredible start.  Christian Watson (when healthy), Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Luke Musgrave, and Tucker Kraft make up an extremely young but talented group.

That being said, the Packers could benefit from adding a veteran presence or two on offense that still aligns with their unofficial “youth movement.”  That is exactly what one current Buffalo Bills wide receiver could do.

Joe Tansey of Bleacher Report highlighted how this could happen:

Gabe Davis would be the Packers’ receiving yards leader with his 2023 total despite not gaining a yard in three of the last four games.

Davis, who has 595 yards this season, could be poised to take the step up from supporting Stefon Diggs to No. 1 wide receiver.

The 24-year-old may not have the best regular season going at the moment, but his postseason performances could make him more valuable to certain teams.

Davis turned in a 100-yard game last season against the Miami Dolphins and had 201 receiving yards versus the Kansas City Chiefs two years ago in the divisional-round thriller.

Davis has the potential to be a No. 1 target, but he needs to be a more consistent pass-catcher in December and January to bolster his free-agent stock.

The Packers may not want him to produce at a high rate, if they love him, because those performances would drive his price up.

Regardless, the Packers should have their eyes on players in the mold of Davis and Higgins who can be the No. 1 wide out for a long time and grow alongside Love and the other wide receivers already on the roster.

Will The Packers Target A Wide Receiver In Free Agency?

Jordan Love is surrounded by a very strong young core.  Nevertheless, adding a 24-year-old veteran to this team could be huge.  In this upcoming season, the Packers will likely focus on other positions after investing heavily in wide receivers in the last two drafts.

To fill as many holes as possible, the Packers may be best served by signing a free agent like Davis and addressing other areas of weakness through the draft.

Obviously, the Packers’ 2024 salary cap will factor into this (as it always does).
