Green Bay Packers Free Agent Target: WR Allen Robinson

Allen Robinson is coming off the worst season of career, and it isn’t particularly close.  He saw only 44 targets through week eight, compared to 76 targets in the same timespan in 2020.  In other words, almost all of the blame for Robinson’s disastrous 2021 season can be placed squarely on the Chicago Bears’ horrendous offense, not the former Pro Bowl WR.

What is holding Allen Robinson back?

In Robinson’s eight years in the NFL, he’s had Justin Fields, Mitch Trubisky, and Blake Bortles as his primary QBs.  He has literally never had an elite quarterback throwing him the ball.  Additionally, his durability is also something that will entice teams around the league. The last major injury Robinson had was in 2017 when he tore his ACL.  Robinson has been a breakout WR waiting to happen for eight years now. Just give him an elite QB and the league will see his true ceiling.

Let’s not forget Allen Robinson almost signed with the Packers.

It was a huge story back in 2018 that Allen Robinson was essentially choosing between the Packers and Bears.  Obviously, he chose Chicago and has seen inconsistent QB play with up and down seasons as a result.  Robinson is projected to earn a new contract for three years, around $48 million ($16M per year, $30 million total guaranteed).  With Green Bay having 3-4 wide receivers on their roster with uncertain futures, the money is something that can be worked out in future years. In conclusion, signing Robinson now gives the Packers a top WR duo in the NFL (assuming Adams stays).

All I know is they are getting a Dog! @AllenRobinson https://t.co/jfEDS8Nw8d
