It’s not a good day to be a Green Bay Packers fan right now. This is after watching Thursday’s shellacking at the hands of the Detroit Lions in Lambeau Field.
The final score in this one was 34-20, but this does not really represent how Detroit totally dominated the Packers on a night when their defense turned in a lackluster performance. And that’s putting it lightly.
Fans Turn on Green Bay Packers DC Joe Barry
On Sunday against the New Orleans Saints, Green Bay gave up 17 points in the first half. They outdid themselves on Thursday by allowing the Lions to drop 27 points all over them in the first two quarters of Thursday’s contest. To say that their defense has not been very good of late would be a complete understatement at this point.
The mean streets of Twitter seem to agree completely, and they have now brought out the pitchforks against defensive coordinator Joe Barry:

That’s savage. The keyboard warriors have made it abundantly clear that they believe the Packers must get rid of Barry at the soonest possible time.
Did Matt LaFleur Take Veiled Shot at Joe Barry?
Even Packers head coach Matt LaFleur appears to be unhappy with Barry right now. While he did not name any names in his post-game comments, it’s hard to deny that the Packers shot-caller seems to have taken a veiled shot at his own defensive coordinator:
“We’re gonna have to do something different. It’s insane to do the same things over and over again and expect a different result,” LaFleur said after Thursday’s heavy defeat, via beat reporter Matt Schneidman of The Athletic.
It will be very interesting to see how these past two games affect Barry’s standing with the organization. The good news for him is that he still has an opportunity to turn it around. His next chance would be next Monday against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 5.
