The Green Bay Packers‘ oldest rival, the Chicago Bears, finally got their first win of the season after defeated the Washington Commanders on Thursday night. In that game, wide receiver DJ Moore, whom the acquired via trade with the Carolina Panthers for the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, shone brightly with eight receptions for 230 yards and three touchdowns.
Noticeably absent from the Bears’ wide receiver rotation was Chase Claypool, whom the Bears traded a second round pick for last season. Earlier in the week, Claypool made headlines when he told reporters that he did not believe the Bears were using him right.
As a result, he was declared inactive and Chicago began searching for a trade partner. According to Ian Rapoport, their search is over and Claypool’s tenure in Chicago is over.
The Chicago Bears Are Trading Chase Claypool to the Miami Dolphins
According to Rapoport, Miami is adding to their incredible offense led by Tyreek Hill by trading for the disgruntled Claypool:

The #Bears are trading WR Chase Claypool to the #Dolphins, sources tell me and @TomPelissero. This ends a prolonged drama and gives Claypool a fresh start. They have tried to trade him since last week after he was a healthy scratch. Now, everyone moves on. pic.twitter.com/RKJHrllA1T

Other sources report that the Dolphins are sending a 2025 sixth round pick to Chicago in exchange for Claypool. Additionally, the Bears are adding a 2025 seventh round pick to the deal.
The Green Bay Packers Once Attempted to Trade for Chase Claypool
As many may remember, the Pittsburgh Steelers sent Claypool to Chicago last year in exchange for the Bears’ second round pick. According to multiple reports around the NFL last year, the Packers also offered Pittsburgh a second round pick for Claypool.
However, Pittsburgh correctly assumed that Chicago would have the higher pick and accepted their offer instead of Green Bay’s.
As it turns out, Green Bay may be better off without having completed that trade. Claypool has four receptions for 51 yards this season while second round pick Jayden Reed has 12 receptions for 203 yards and two touchdowns.
