Prior to Week 17 against the Minnesota Vikings, very few fans had anything more than a quick thought about Green Bay Packers rookie wide receiver Bo Melton. He hadn’t seen much playing time, but that would change quickly after a shocking performance.
When the Packers needed wide receiver help the most, Melton stepped up. He helped lead Green Bay to a massive 33-10 win over the division rival Vikings. Without him on the field, the result may have been different.
During the big win, Melton ended up catching six passes for 105 yards and a touchdown. He was a slightly better throw from Jordan Love away from adding another long touchdown reception as well on a fourth-down play.
Green Bay Packers Coach Matt LaFleur Can’t Hold Back About Bo Melton
With the team preparing for a massive Week 18 game against the Chicago Bears, head coach Matt LaFleur could not contain his excitement about Melton. He believes the rookie wide receiver could produce for years to come with the Packers.
“He’s got a tremendous talent in the fact he is really fast, and obviously you can’t coach that. It’s just good to see somebody go out there, get an opportunity, and transfer it from practice into a game.”
Matt LaFleur thinks Bo Melton could produce long term: "He's got a tremendous talent in the fact he is really fast, and obviously you can't coach that. It's just good to see somebody go out there, get an opportunity, and transfer it from practice into a game."

At just 24 years of age, Melton had only had a role in two games before his breakout performance against the Vikings. He had shown flashes of potential in practice, but not on the game field.
In his first three games with the Packers, Melton has caught 11 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown. Clearly, most of that production came against Minnesota.
Looking ahead to this week’s game against the Bears, it will be interesting to see what kind of role Melton has. The Packers will have Christian Watson back, as well as Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks. Throw in Romeo Doubs and the Green Bay wide receiver depth chart is pretty full.
No matter what role he has in Week 18, Melton has done enough to prove that he has a future in Green Bay.
