The Green Bay Packers still have a chance to make the playoffs. Even after dropping two straight, if the Packers win out they have a very good chance to earn a wild card spot. Their final three games are against the Carolina Panthers, Minnesota Vikings, and Chicago Bears.
Today, the Packers made a move that they feel could help their chances to make that improbable playoff run.
The Green Bay Packers Sign A Blazing Fast Wide Receiver Prior To Their Matchup With The Carolina Panthers
According to Packers reporter Kyle Mahlzhan:
The Packers have elevated WR Bo Melton and S Benny Sapp III from the practice squad to the active roster for tomorrow’s game against the Panthers.
Bo Melton is a talented man from an equally talented family.
During his senior season at Rutgers, he caught 164 passes and earned all-Big Ten honors. Melton ran his 40-yard dash in 4.34 seconds at the Scouting Combine after training with Christian Watson. He also has some talent off the field:
“My dad put a snare drum in front of me when I was a kid when I was 2 years old,” Melton said after his first practice with the Packers on Wednesday. “That snare drum turned into a drum set when I was 4. Ever since then, I’m playing on electric drums sets and stuff like that, playing in church.
My dad was a pastor, so I played in the church a lot. Just like in football, you learn from somebody else, and I learned from somebody else and then I taught myself that. And YouTube videos helped get me better.”
The Seattle Seahawks drafted Melton in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He was placed on their practice squad for the first 16 weeks of the regular season after failing to make their roster.
The season has seen Melton make two appearances. His first appearance was against Detroit in Week 12, where he was added to the 53-man roster. The second was against Tampa Bay last week. Melton has played 11 special teams snaps, all of which have come on the kick coverage unit.
