Former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Allen Lazard recently signed a four-year contract with the New York Jets. The veteran wide receiver tested the open market and got paid accordingly. Many were skeptical about his return to the Green Bay Packers due to his comments after the Packers’ season ended. After he signed with the Jets, Lazard had the opportunity to speak to the media. In doing so, he revealed why he left the Green Bay Packers.
Allen Lazard Discloses Why He Left The Green Bay Packers
Per Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic:
Allen Lazard said the Packers didn’t show any interest in bringing him back. “They didn’t seem like they were going to miss me too much.”
That is a pretty telling statement from the former Green Bay Packers wide receiver. The Packers certainly have a bright future with Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson, however, Lazard’s blocking ability proved to be invaluable at times. This could suggest the Packers have had a plan to bring in a different veteran wide receiver all along.
Some names that remain out there for the Packers should they target free agency include:
- Mecole Hardman (Kansas City)
- Jarvis Landry (New Orleans Saints)
- Adam Theilen (Minnesota Vikings)
- Marquise Goodman (Seattle Seahawks)
- T.Y. Hilton (Dallas Cowboys)
