The Green Bay Packers learned a lot about themselves in the 2023 NFL season. What was once thought by many to be a season where the Packers would greatly struggle because of the absence of Aaron Rodgers became one that exceeded expectations. Not only did Jordan Love and company look solid in Year 1 of the Post-Aaron Rodgers Era, but they even made it to the NFL playoffs with a 9-8 record. It did not stop there because the Packers played beyond the wild-card round as they demolished the Dallas Cowboys in Arlington in the playoffs.
For two-time All-Pro, the future has just begun for the Packers despite losing to the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round (h/t Rob Demovsky of ESPN).
As much as the 24-21 playoff loss at Levi’s Stadium had left its mark, so did this team. And Nixon, the All-Pro kick returner and nickel cornerback, had just the words to describe it: “The future.”
The Future Has Begun for the Green Bay Packers
The promise of a bright future is certainly there for the Green Bay Packers. Love proved to be an ideal successor to Rodgers. He checks a big box for Green Bay. While other teams continue to struggle to find the right quarterback, the Packers appear to have found another franchise signal-caller in Love, who, in his first season as a full-time starter, passed for 4,159 yards and 32 touchdowns with 11 interceptions, while completing over 64 percent of his throws.
The challenge for the Packers is making sure that they will be able to sustain the momentum they gathered from the 2023 campaign. With the free agency period and the 2024 NFL Draft on the horizon, the Packers have avenues to improve their roster and address the issues they dealt with in 2023.
