Matt LaFleur and the Green Bay Packers are finalizing their approach for their massive Week 18 game against the Chicago Bears. With a chance to make the playoffs on the line if Green Bay wins, they will need a strong game on both sides of the ball. Jordan Love’s performance will be the biggest factor in the Packers’ chances this week.
Granted, Joe Barry and the defense have to play similarly to how they performed against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 17. They cannot revert back to how poorly they played against Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers or they will be in trouble.
Even with the defense needing to play well, the offense has to control the game from start to finish. Love has proven himself more than capable of doing so.
Green Bay Packers Coach Reveals Why Jordan Love Has Been More Aggressive
LaFleur talked about realizing that he needed to open up the playbook for Love. He gained more confidence in his young quarterback and decided to let it rip.
“There was a point in time where you realize if you’re going to generate explosives, you better call some plays that can generate some explosives.”
Love has responded beautifully and has played the second half of the season like a legitimate MVP candidate. If he were to have played like he has in the second half of the year the whole season, he likely would walk away with the NFL MVP award himself.
Against the Bears, they Packers will need to rip off some big plays. If they can move down the field in chunks, they will put themselves in a great position for a win.
Expect to see LaFleur, Love, and the offense come out aggressively to begin the game this week. The Bears’ defense is weak and Green Bay should have success.
