The Green Bay Packers have a lot to be excited about when it comes to the future of this team. Their young offensive core proved to be good enough to compete with the best of the best not only in their conference, but in the league.
In fact, that young core (and their salary cap) may be a huge reason as to why the Packers are able to draft something unexpected in round one.
The Green Bay Packers Have An Insane Amount Of Flexibility In The 2024 NFL Draft Due To Two Young Players
Ross Uglem of The Packers Report highlighted how two young studs can change how the Packers draft in 2024:

Green Bay’s starting tackles for most of 2023 were Zach Tom & Rasheed Walker. Their average overall PFFgrade of 73.0 ranked 11th/32 tackle tandems.
The Packers finished 2nd in Pass Block Win Rate with those two at OT for most of the year.
Both players were in Green Bay’s 2022 draft class. A “normal” development track would suggest both players would be better next year than they were in 2023.
Green Bay owes Tom $1.1M in 2024 and $1.2M in 2025. They owe Walker even less.
The Packers are paying almost nothing for a decidedly better-than-league-average tackle tandem and I am supposed to believe they’re locked into a tackle in round one because they’re releasing a player that basically didn’t play for them in 2023?
I’m not buying.
Could they take a tackle? Sure. It definitely could happen.
Ross Uglem Makes An Extremely Interesting Point Regarding The Tackle Positions
The Packers need to think long-term at the tackle position sooner rather than later. Even if David Bakhtiari returns in 2024, the 32-year-old will likely hang up his cleats in the near future.
While many have predicted an offensive lineman (specifically tackle) to be selected by the Packers in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, Rasheed Walker and Zach Tom may allow them to divert their attention to something else.
