Milwaukee Bucks‘ two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is the topic of discussion in a new documentary from Prime Video Sports, “Giannis: The Marvelous Journey”, a tell-all from the superstar.
Giannis Antetokounmpo Gets Candid in New Documentary
The new documentary is set to be released on Feb. 19, and starts with his family story, his parents Charles and Veronica Antetokounmpo, who immigrated from Nigeria to Greece to start a better life for their family.
Narrated by Antetokounmpo himself, he dives into the accomplishments and trails that led him to where he is today. Giannis says in the trailer how surreal it is to be one of the most popular players in the NBA.
“People might say I am one of the best players in the BA right now, but, I don’t see it…I don’t feel it. I’m just a hard worker that’s trying to survive because I am scared of losing all of this.”
This isn’t the first feature-film about Giannis’ story. In 2022, Disney+ released the biographical sports series Rise which was based on the story of Giannis and his brothers Thanasis and Kostas.
This new Prime Sports documentary also features Giannis’ mother, brothers Thanasis, Kostas, and Alex, along with his fiancee Mariah Riddlesprigger. NBA stars such as Jason Kidd, Khris Middleton, Jrue Holiday, Kenny Smith, Vin Baker, and Ernie Johnson also appear in the film.
The documentary was produced by Giannis’ own media company, Improbable Media, which was also co-founded with ESPN basketball analyst and former player Jay Williams.
