Even Nebraska Cornhuskers head coach Fed Hoiberg couldn’t believe what his squad just pulled off Thursday night when they battled back from a huge deficit and scored an improbable 80-72 home overtime win over No. 6 Wisconsin Badgers.

Wisconsin Badgers Suffer Second-Half Meltdown in Loss to Fred Hoiberg, Nebraska
The Wisconsin Badgers must have felt they already had the win in the bag when they were in the lead by as many as 19 points in the first half. But Nebraska did not quit and instead of laying down their weapons and calling it a day, the Cornhuskers turned things around with a vicious fightback in the second half. This is a huge win for Nebraska, as it netted a Quadrant 1 victory and evened the score between it and the Wisconsin Badgers this season. It can be recalled that the Cornhuskers lost to the Badgers in Madison early last January to the tune of an 88-72 score.
In the win over Wisconsin, the Cornhuskers were led on the court by CJ Wilcher, who came off the bench and fired 22 points, while Rienk Mast and Brice Williams put up 20 and 17 points, respectively. As for the Badgers, AJ Storr paced them with 28 points.
The Cornhuskers, who improved to 16-6 overall and 6-5 in conference play, will next take on the Illinois Fighting Illini on the road on Sunday, while the Badgers will face a heavyweight in the Purdue Boilermakers at home on the same day.
