Former Brewers Outfielder Brett Philips Is Everything Good about Baseball

Brett Philips has been a fan favorite everywhere he has gone. From the minors to Milwaukee to Kansas City to Tampa Bay, everyone loves Brett Philips. It’s easy to see why. A clubhouse prankster and comedian, he keeps things loose in the dugout and can find fun in anything. Additionally, he can come through with big hits or amazing catches at important moments. He did both this week.

The Greatest Catch in the History of Pitchers

Brett Philips is an outfielder. However, when the Rays are getting blown out, he is their go-to pitcher. He found himself on the mound already this season. During this time, he made one of the most amazing catches a pitcher has ever made AND got through one inning on five pitches.

In this next video, Philips gets through an entire inning throwing just five pitches:

    An Amazing Catch

Prior to taking the mound, Brett Philips made a phenomenal catch in right field.

    A Meaningful Home Run

One of the most endearing things about professional athletes is when they take the time to meet with sick fans. It is especially endearing when those fans are children. On Tuesday night, a young girl battling cancer got to throw out the first pitch at the Rays game. The catcher was Brett Philips, her favorite player.

Later on, when the television crew was interviewing her, Philips stepped up to the plate. He proceeded to do this:

A young girl named Chloe who is battling cancer threw out the first pitch to Brett Phillips, her favorite player, tonight at the Trop.

He homered while they were interviewing her on air 🥺 pic.twitter.com/pc3PBJWLHn

Like I said, Brett Philips is everything that is good about baseball.
