The Green Bay Packers reportedly were awarded a defensive back off of waivers Monday afternoon. It appears the Packers had a chance to claim their former team captain but chose not to.
The Packers have had several major injuries at the secondary position this season. They saw safety Darnell Savage return to the 53-man roster this past weekend.
Unfortunately, cornerback Jaire Alexander was inactive for the Packers win against the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday night. Alexander has been dealing with a back injury this season. Eric Stokes is on injured reserve.
The Green Bay Packers add a DB
According to Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network, the Packers were awarded cornerback David Long off waivers after the Carolina Panthers released him last week. Former Packers team captain Adrian Amos cleared waivers after he and the New York Jets mutually parted ways Friday.

The Rams drafted Long in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He won Super Bowl LVI with the Rams. Long spent time with the Las Vegas Raiders this season before joining the Panthers in November. Long has 96 total tackles and one interception for his NFL career.
The Packers needed depth at cornerback more than safety. However, many Packers fans hoped for a reunion with Amos after the Jets released him.
