The Davante Adams trade was the first step in ushering in a new era for the Packers. The Packers sent Adams to the Raiders in the offseason following a playoff loss to the 49ers. After the trade, Adams admitted that he did not want to stay in Green Bay not knowing what the future held for his All-Pro quarterback. However, in an article with Mirin Fader of The Ringer, he revealed how his 2022 season, his first without Aaron Rodgers, proved a lot to both himself and his peers.
Davante Adams “Prove It” Year

Regardless of how great Davante Adams is, he obviously benefited greatly by playing with Aaron Rodgers. Until last season, Aaron Rodgers had been the triggerman for Adams for basically his entire career. However, when he went to Las Vegas, reunited with his college quarterback Derek Carr, he would no longer have an MVP throwing him the ball. Adams was named a First Team ALL-Pro while catching passes from Derek Carr and Jarrett Stidham.
When speaking about the notion that Aaron Rodgers made Adams, he opened up on what being an All-Pro in 2022 meant.
“That’ll never be the narrative ever again. It proved that I am me,” he says. “A quarterback doesn’t make me,” Adams said. “I make me. And I can do it consistently at this level.”
Adams was clearly on a mission to prove to the world that it did not matter who was throwing him the ball. He was going to make plays.
“I’ve already proved it throughout the course of a season, played every game and put together a résumé that says I do not need …You can erase all the numbers. You can just write in ‘He didn’t need Aaron Rodgers.’”
Davante Adams Stats
Davante Adams is not wrong when he thinks he proved how good he is. The Raiders’ quarterback situation was far from stable. Derek Carr was benched near the end of the season in favor of Jarrett Stidham. Carr is now the quarterback for the New Orleans Saints. Despite the situation at quarterback, Adams had a stellar season.
