The Green Bay Packers and Davante Adams parted ways two off-seasons ago after the two sides couldn’t come to an agreement. The agreement wasn’t necessarily about money as it has been reported numerous times that the Packers were willing to make Adams the highest paid wide receiver in the NFL.
It had more to do with Adams’ desire to play with QB Derek Carr and to be closer to his family. However, just two seasons later the Las Vegas Raiders look like an entirely different team. That continued this off-season when the Packers signed former Raiders running back Josh Jacobs.
Adams finally broke his silence about Jacobs landing with his former team.
Davante Adams Makes Announcement About Josh Jacobs Joining His Former Team The Green Bay Packers
Davante Adams posted the following to Instgram:
Jacobs became a team leader and one of the faces of the franchise during his time in Las Vegas. Despite being with the Raiders for only two years, Davante Adams quickly developed a strong relationship with Jacobs.
Adams has made it clear on more than one occasion just how important Jacobs was to the Raiders. He went as far as saying if the Raiders want any shot of winning the Super Bowl, they need Jacobs:
“If we really want to have a shot at winning the Super Bowl and having all the elite aspirations that we do, we’re gonna need that guy,” Adams said, via NFL Total Access. “So I’m praying that we can still figure something out, but also understanding where Josh is coming from and trying to coach him through it at the same time.”
The Green Bay Packers Have A Lot To Look Forward To With Jacobs
While with the Raiders, Jacobs made two Pro Bowls and rushed for 5,545 yards, which is third in franchise history. If he had been able to sign a long-term deal in Las Vegas, he might have surpassed Marcus Allen’s 8,545 rushing yards. It’s clear Jacobs made a big impact on the locker room, and he won’t be easily replaced.
The Raiders didn’t use Josh Jacobs much in the passing game early in his career. His first two seasons combined for 53 receptions. Over the last three seasons, he has accumulated 144 receptions combined.
Jacobs, however, feels that’s not enough. It was his intention to become more involved in the Packers’ passing offense (much like Aaron Jones was).
