Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers were quite a duo. For years, they dominated regular season games racking up award after award off of the production they generated together. Unfortunately for Green Bay Packers fans, Adams was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders last year and the productive run came to an end. The Packers’ offense struggled while Adams continued to put up All-Pro numbers in Vegas. The Raiders, however, are moving on from Derek Carr at quarterback and there are strong odds that they are interested in now trading for Rodgers.
Over the course of the weekend that saw Adams take part in the Pro Bowl festivities and Rodgers win the Pebble Beach Pro Am, there were plenty of suggestive Tweets from Adams’ account that indicated he was recruiting Rodgers to the Raiders. However, in an interview during the Pro Bowl itself, Adams revealed his true motives.
Davante Adams: “I’m First-Team All-Troll”
When asked about if he was serious about house hunting for Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams said:
“The [social-media] trolling – I’m first-team all-troll so don’t take none of that too serious but I would love to have that and, obviously, that would be a dream scenario (and) one that I’m very familiar with. But anything you see on Twitter, that’s not a tell of anything. That’s just wishful thinking.”
In other words, both Adams and Rodgers were having some fun with the fans as they indirectly went back-and-forth with each other about where the future Hall of Fame quarterback will play in 2023. Even though he was trolling the fans, that does not mean that Adams doesn’t want Rodgers as his quarterback again next season:
“Would I be interested in having Aaron Rodgers throw to me? Yes. I would love that.”
Adams also said he has made his desire known to Raiders’ management:
“A million percent. A hundred percent, that’s exactly what I’m trying to portray. It’s a lot of conversations to be had still in the near future. We’ll see what happens but that’s obviously something that I would go in there and talk about.”
