It all started with a disappointing Week 1 loss to the Green Bay Packers. Everything pretty much went downhill from there for the Chicago Bears, who now remain one of a few teams that have yet to secure a win this season.
In spite of all the struggles his team has had to endure early on, however, Chicago quarterback Justin Fields remains unfazed.
Chicago Bears QB Justin Fields Sees Silver Lining
Fields was recently asked to share his thoughts on not only his team’s lackluster performances of late but also, that of his own struggles on the field. At this point, however, it is clear that the 24-year-old is not ready to throw in the towel just yet.
“All the adversity I go through is gonna make me stronger as a person and as a player,” he said, via Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun Times. “So just gotta look at the bright side of things and think of yourself as going through adversity for a reason. That’s what I’ve been doing.”
I guess the silver lining here for Fields is that he has A LOT to learn from over these first three weeks of the season. He hasn’t looked like the elite quarterback Chicago fans have been hoping for, and it is clear that he will need to work much, much harder if he wants to lead the comeback for the Bears. After all, it’s just been three weeks.
Justin Fields Just Wants to Have Fun
In another interview, Fields shed more light on his current mindset amid his team’s forgettable start to 2023. According to the former first-round pick, he now has a broader perspective not only on the game of football but in his life in general as well:
“I’m looking at it like the big picture, just life in general,” Fields said, via Michael David Smith of PFT. “I think this past week has had me kind of look at it like, What are the important things in life? . . . I think these past couple of weeks have made me appreciate the little things in life, like being able to play this game. Every opportunity I get to go out there and play, I’m going to have fun. I’m going to play my hardest and just thank God for giving me the ability to play. So, no matter what the scoreboard is, I’m going to keep to the same mindset and just pushing and keep moving forward.”
At this point, Fields is remaining grateful for the opportunity to play the game that he loves. He has every intention of savoring these moments as much as he can. Chicago fans are just hoping that these moments involve winning.
