It all started with the Chicago Bears’ Week 1 loss to their bitter rivals, the Green Bay Packers. Justin Fields got his season off on the wrong foot, which was followed by another lackluster performance on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Chicago is now 0-2 to start the campaign, and there’s no denying that Fields’ poor play has had a lot to do with the same.
Chicago Bears QB Justin Fields Backpedals on ‘Coaching’ Jab
As if he wasn’t already under the media’s scrutiny enough, Fields decided to come out with some controversial comments on Wednesday regarding his “robotic” play. According to Chicago’s QB1, the fact that he hasn’t been playing like himself of late may have been brought about by the team’s “coaching.”
Unsurprisingly, Fields’ perceived jab led to a bit of frenzy on social media. The Bears star took a lot of flack for supposedly pinning the blame on the coaching staff. This prompted a statement from Fields wherein he attempted to play down his earlier statement:
“When you take my quote out of context, when you just say that, if you just paint the picture from the inside out, y’all are trying to split us up as a team,” Fields said. “I’m not blaming anything on the coaches. I’m never gonna blame anything on the coaches. I’m never gonna blame anything on my teammates. Whatever happens in the game, I will take all the blame. I don’t care. If it’s a dropped pass, it should have been a pass. Put it on me. Never will you hear anything come out of my mouth to where I will blame it on somebody else, on this organization, my teammates, never will you hear that.”
NFL Twitter Reacts to Justin Fields Brouhaha
Fields’ clarification did little to appease the mean streets of Twitter, though. The keyboard warriors showed no mercy to the Bears quarterback. Below are the funniest tweet reactions to Fields’ self-induced drama:

At this point, you can’t really say that Fields didn’t bring this whole storm upon himself.
