Cade Yacamelli spent all of the 2022 season redshirting for the Wisconsin Badgers Football program. He is currently listed as the third running back on Wisconsin’s depth chart entering the 2023 season, but it feels like he could be the second man at some point.
Cade Yacamelli Could Breakout for Wisconsin Badgers Football
Yacamelli is a redshirt freshman this season and can very well see some playtime. Junior Braelon Allen and graduate student Chez Mellusi are currently ahead of him on the depth chart. After this season, Allen will most likely declare for the NFL Draft in 2024, and Mellusi will no longer be with the program.
Cade Yacamelli attended high school at Penn-Trafford, in the Pittsburgh area. He was listed as an athlete when he was being recruited because Yacamelli played positions on both sides of the football field.
At first, Wisconsin had him as a safety, but then they decided to work him in at the running back position. This will benefit him and the team in the long run. During his season year of high school, Cade Yacamel scored 28 total touchdowns and rushed for 1,766 yards. He led his alma mater to their first state championship in school history during his senior season.
Yacamelli felt born to be a Wisconsin Badgers running back, and he could be their breakout player on the offensive side of the ball this season. Cade Yacamelli is deadly quick and reports claim he’s had a great spring. It will be important for him to make his mark during training camp when it begins in August.
The college football season is closer than it appears to be. A Braelon Allen and Cade Yacamelli running back tandem for head coach Luke Fickell is something the Wisconsin Badgers fanbase could get behind.
