How did Eric Thames perform throughout his career?
Prior to signing with the Brewers, Thames dominated the Korean Baseball Organization. As a member of the NC Dinos he clubbed 124 home runs and collected 382 RBI over the course of three seasons. After his tenure with Milwaukee, he played with the Nationals during the shortened 2020 season before electing to sign overseas with the Yomiuri Giants of the Japan Eastern League.
During his 2021 season, Thames sustained a ruptured Achilles tendon. This required surgery to fix. Shortly before announcing his retirement, Thames opened up regarding the complications from this surgery that included blood infections, tissue infections, and a wound that would not close for four months.
Thames last played baseball in 2022 as a member of the Oakland Athletics. He played in 22 minor league games for them before being released. Across all levels, (MLB, MiLB, and foreign leagues) Thames hit 286 career home runs and 941 RBI during his 14 year career.
